Reading Material

I have been looking around the web to see if I can buy a book or two to read while I’m at work or out and about, so I got a few recommendations from a couple of people who have backpacked Japan. So far here’s what I purchased from Amazon; Lonely Planet Japan, Lonely Planet Tokyo Encounter, Japanese: Lonely Planet Phrase Book, and Japan Bilingual Map. All were highly recommended with the exception of the phrase book, there were a few people who just seem to disagree with it. I guess we’ll find out once I receive it.

I’m also hoping I find a place that can perform a tea ceremony (in English if possible) that isn’t as costly as what I’ve found so far. I looked at some online resources and most tend to be attached with some kind of tour, or event that you can pay for but are too costly in my opinion.

Uncertainty

May will be the month where this adventure will be. Not sure how I came up with this month but I figure that air line tickets won’t be as bad as in June and on. I still have a long ways to go but I’m already getting things organized. Backpackit seems to be a great online-app to get yourself organized with, especially if you are like me who has 3 computers in at home.

I’m a bit scared, maybe it’s just the thought of being in a foreign country where I don’t know the language. In any case 4 months to plan this trip out. Hopefully I’ll have the know on a few phrases and read basic kanji by that time.
