3.0 coming tomorow

Posted October 13th, 2008. Filed under World of Warcraft

I’m having mixed feelings about the new patch that’s due out tomorrow. Mixed by either making the game far better than what it is right now or having failed on my expectations and making me completely lose interest in the game. I’m also not looking forward to the new hunter trees mainly because there is not much data yet to determine what the best leveling spec, and raid dps spec would be. Just as the cookie cutter 41/20/0 spec on BM is considered the best on the dps charts, there is no means of telling what it will be tomorrow. I am looking forward to some of the mechanics, and even the new calendar system.

meh all in all its just the wait.. i hope blizzard doesn’t disappoint me.

Beast Lord Set

Posted August 22nd, 2008. Filed under World of Warcraft

I’ve been doing some heavy heroic instance grinding almost every day trying to get badges for some of the new 2.4 badge gear. In this time I have successfully collected the full Beast Lord armor set, and a whole bunch of epic items. In this time I have been working on hard on trying to develop my chain trapping skills, and CC skills in general (yeah there is more to it than just freezing traps). Though I have been running Karazhan on a weekly basis, and collected a couple of epic item upgrades from there I still can’t see myself dropping two pieces of the beast lord set from my bags. The extra 5 seconds in cooldown for your traps is the best armor set bonus I have experienced yet the only thing better than this would be the item bonuses from the Rift Stalker armor set (yes the Demon Stalker set bonus is horrid). In any case, I would highly recommend any hunter to at least pursuit any 2 pieces of the Beast Lord set and be able to show off your amazing CC skills.

Hunter Macros I currently use.

Lately I’ve been trying to write macros for my hunter to make life a little easier. Going through the web and sort of picking out things from here and there I have managed to make a few macros to make things a step or two shorter.

Focus Target
/focus target

This I use in combination with Assist Focus and Pet Assist Focus on the Main Tank. If you in an instance or raid and are afraid of breaking Sheep or other CC, you use this macro first to get focus on your tank then you use the Assist Focus which will start using Auto shot on your tanks target, or Pet Assist Focus to send your pet out to your tanks target. Keep in mind that you only need to focus on your Tank once during the instance, irregardless of having a wipe or what not.

Assist Focus
/assist focus
/cast !Auto shot

Pet Assist Focus
/assist focus
/cast Hunter’s Mark(Rank 4)
/petattack

The Pet assist Focus can be useful in other situations as well. For example you are given the trust of Freeze Trapping a target what you do is after the initial pull you use this macro to have your pet start attacking while you freeze trap your target.

Distracting Shot
#showtooltip
/cast Distracting Shot(Rank 7)
/stopcasting

Using a Distracting Shot macro makes it easier for anyone who has auto shot go off automatically after using a Distracting Shot, when trying to pull a mob onto a Freezing Trap. This will help you avoid breaking your own traps by using the /Stopcasting command right after.

Feed Pet
/cast [nocombat] Feed Pet; [combat] Mend Pet
/use [pet:Bear/Boar/Wind Serpent, nocombat] Conjured Manna Biscuit; [pet:Cat/Ravager/Wolf, nocombat] Smoked Talbuk Venison

This Feed Pet macro is somewhat self explanatory. It checks to see if you are in combat, if you are it will Mend Pet, otherwise it will feed it a specific food accordingly by pet race. Currently I use a Wind Serpent on 25 man raids, like taking advantage of the free food a mage can conjure for you via a table or spell. On the other hand I use a Ravager for my instance, and heroic runs and like using the cheaper of the two high level vendor meats.

Self Bandage
/use [target=player] Heavy Netherweave Bandage

This is self explanatory, it will use a Heavy Netherweave Bandage on you.

I’m sure there are other useful macros available out there, such as shot rotation macros, and even for equipping specific gear for certain situations.

Huntard Progress..update

Posted August 3rd, 2008. Filed under World of Warcraft

I’ve been using my hunter a little more often now trying to gear him up a bit. Seeing that WoLK won’t be out until Q4 of this year according to WoWInsider, I’ve decided to give a little life to my hunter and started running various Heroics and regular instances. I just can’t see myself doing daily quests at the Isle. Overtime I’ve managed to upgrade almost all of my armor from the original PVP gear I was utilizing to something more useful for PVE.

I also managed to reach revered status, and close to exalted now with Cenarion Expedition which enables me to obtain better arrows than the ones sold by the merchants at the major cities. I also placed a Glyph of Ferocity on my headgear, Inscription of Vengeance on my Shoulders, and a Cobrahide Leg Armor on my Beast Lord Leggings. Unfortunately after 10 runs at Shadow Labs I have not been successful at getting my Sonic Spear. With all these upgrades I should now be right in the good radar of a full Karazhan run. Of course I could always use upgrades but that’ll just happen as time goes by. The only issue I have now is that I’m not in a guild right now, so it’s mainly Kara pugs that I’m looking at until I find a guild that I like.

Hopefully I’ll have more upgrades soon.

World of Warcraft Latino!

We are just 3 days away from the July 25th release of the official World of Warcraft Latino American Servers. Unfortunately I won’t able to participate in this event seeing that I don’t have my account activated at the moment and probably won’t for another three weeks or so.

On a side note, I have gone through the Latino server forums and have noticed a lot of chaos going on about the release because only a select few US servers are going to have the option of being able to transfer their characters to the new server;

List of eligible servers for free transfers:

  • Agamaggan
  • Andorhal
  • Burning Blade
  • Burning Legion
  • Hakkar
  • Kalecgos
  • Lightning’s Blade
  • Shadowmoon
  • Skullcrusher
  • Smolderthorn
  • Spinebreaker

I see it being a bit unfair as there are a lot of players in other servers whom I’ve met before that are from South/Central American countries. I personally would have liked to transfer my main Hunter onto the Latino servers. This would have helped me work on my spanish skills really well. I hope Blizzard comes to their senses and decide to give everyone an equal opportunity to transfer if they want to.
